RETINOL
VS
BAKUCHIOL
My skin at age 47
Both retinol and bakuchiol have excellent anti-aging properties.
I’ve been testing skincare for years and I use both.
I use retinol a few times per month and this bakuchiol serum daily.
Here’s why:
Retinol:
Speeds up cell turnover
Reduces wrinkles & dark spots
Smooths skin
Can cause irritation or dryness
Bakuchiol:
Plant-based alternative to retinol
Boosts collagen & reduces fine lines
Evens skin tone
Gentler with fewer side effects
Bottom Line:
Retinol: Great if your skin can handle it.
Bakuchiol: Perfect for a more natural, gentle option
BAKUCHIOL
Bakuchiol is a natural retinol alternative that can be used more often than retinol.
I use my Bakuchiol serum every day!
Bakuchiol oil works in a similar way to retinol, stimulating the skin to regenerate new skin cells, but it’s much more gentle!
I use a 3% bakuchiol serum that is comparable to 1.5% retinol strength but with none of the irritation. (1.5% retinol is very strong!)
RETINOLS
I use a retinol weekly for it’s amazing skin cell renewal effects!
Retinols are too strong for every day use.
They are one of the strongest skincare ingredients on the market!
Retinols are fantastic because of their ability to stimulate your skin cells to renew and regenerate. This leads to firmer, tighter skin with fewer fine lines and wrinkles!
Other Products
in My Daily Routine
I use both castor oil and whipped tallow but at different times.
Here's why:
Castor Oil is loaded with antioxidants and fatty acids that have strong anti-aging benefits. I want to use it undiluted, at full strength.
But, castor oil is thick and sticky. It's not really practical to use a lot on your face during the day.
That's why I use it overnight. My skn is glowing when I wake up in the morning after applying loads of castor oil on a clean face before bed.
Tallow is more lightweight, non-sticky and the hydration lasts all day. It's full of skin-loving vitamins too. It's more daytime friendly!
NOTE: not all castor oils are good for skin!
The one I use is:
hexane-free
organic
cold-pressed
Why Tallow Is So Good
During The Day
Tallow is Similar to skin’s natural sebum and is also full of skin loving nutrients.
Tallow is silky smooth and non-greasy and keeps a good moisture seal that lasts all day!
Apply over the top of any other serum(s) in the morning for a good moisture-lock throughout the day.
I have yet to find another moisturizer that works as well as tallow during the day.
2. PHA Peels For Exfoliation
Exfolating is VITAL for anti-aging!
A peel gently pushes your skin to regenerate and renew.
I do a mild PHA peel 2-3 times per week.
PHA peels dissolve the dead skin on the surface of your face, stimulating your skin to renew itself!
To use this peel, I apply it, leave it for 15 minutes and then wash it off.
This exfoliation rejuvenates, stimulates new collagen and minimizes fine lines and wrinkles. I’ve seen smoother, glowier skin from doing this regularly!
This wrinkle bundle Has the Castor Oil, PHA Peel, Bakuchiol Serum and Tallow I use.
